Current Construction Schedule

Prior versions of the schedule, for those who wish to mock my planning abilities (you know who you are):

Kept pretty well on schedule over the Feb 17 weekend, but still lots to be done. We now have a Hard Deadline: I have scheduled the drywall installers for March 13. So if it isn't in the walls by then, it isn't going in...

The schedule, week by week:

February 25-28: Long weekend to get caught up! Continue cranking on the following list of Things That Must Be Done before we can close up the walls:

Install a/c ductwork in music room and kitchen, range hood vent in kitchen done, after massive effort
Run stub tubing for future installation under sun porch, 3rd floor bedroom (my "heat rises" theory turns out to be incorrect unfortunately).
Run rough wiring, including:
1. kitchen recessed lighting done
2. under-counter lighting
3. in-cabinet lighting
4. music room recessed lighting done
5. boxes for island pendants
6. foyer and stair landing lighting
7. kitchen receptacles done
8. dishwasher
9. garbage disposal
10. bar fridge done
11. refrigerator done
12. range done
13. range hood
14. music room receptacles done
15. front and back door switches
16. exterior lighting
Install light fixtures done in kitchen
Install receptacle boxes done
Open up spot in music room wall where plumbing freezes due to inadequate insulation and fix it.
Run speaker wiring (including to deck)
Install speakers in kitchen ceiling, music room wall.
Run structured cable (cable, internet, telephone)
Install structured cable boxes
Tie the walls that we left standing but removed the subfloor from underneath of, back to the new subfloor.
Re-install music room bookcases (this could wait until after the walls go up but it needs to be done before painting) done
(added Mar. 1) Build framework for furniture-next-to-the-stairs done

March 4-5: Continue on the list above. Priority items include ductwork, stove hood vent (this is going to be a fun one), insulation, possibly hanging the light fixtures. Getting very close! Saturday morning I have to get up early and go look at a "Blue Star" range (http://www.prizer-painter.com), my friend Scott is very hot on these things. Appliances are Fun!

March 11-12: Continue working on the list above. Includes roughing in sink and dishwasher plumbing, hanging new basement door.

Week of March 13: Drywallers come, install all drywall, paint walls.

March 18-19: Drywallers/painters will still be in process, so use this weekend to finish all the loose ends in the basement (extra insulation, plumbing rough in, panel work, etc.)

March 25-26: Install wall and base cabinet bodies. This includes the rough framing for the island.

Week of March 27: Jim Hurley comes to make the template for the countertops. Things start to look like a real kitchen

April 1-2: Lay floor in music room, kitchen, (possibly) tile floor in foyer (this depends on the front door schedule in part). Although it lacks finish carpentry (baseboard), harp room is now Back In Business

Week of April 3: Jim Hurley returns to install countertops, yahoo!!

April 8-9 Finish carpentry: baseboard, door casing, above-cabinet molding in music room and kitchen. Install lighting trim, cover plates in music room. Install in-cabinet lighting, under-cabinet lighting in kitchen. Stain or paint back door.

April 15-16: Hook up plumbing for kitchen and bar sink. Lay tile floor in foyer if we haven't already. Tile backsplashes too. If they are here, consider (gulp) INSTALLING THE APPLIANCES.

Week of April 15: Build and finish the piece of furniture that goes next to the stairs

April 22-23: Install the piece of furniture that goes next to the stairs (need to come up with a better name for this thing), along with the new handrail. Install remaining light fixtures (island pendants, landing fixture, anything else we've left out.

April 29-30:I have An Appliance and I'm Not Afraid to Use It! Umm... I think... we're DONE! Cocktails, anyone?
